Whites Farm

Whites Farm sits in open countryside on the Essex / Suffolk border. In the same family for generations, the farmhouse dates in part back to the 16th century with additions and alterations through the subsequent centuries up to the 1950s. The current owners, recent empty-nesters, approached Project Orange to update and extend the farmhouse and to create a new kitchen wing to take advantage of wide ranging views over the farm’s orchards and fields of peonies. The new extension respects the vernacular yet uses composition of form and fenestration to create an addition that is both sympathetic to the original house whilst being unapologetically of its time. The project completed in 2019/20
