Wash Farm. Suffolk
Sector
Residential
The extension is a contemporary single-storey addition that contrasts elegantly with the original Suffolk brick farmhouse. It features a low-pitched dark roof, floor-to-ceiling glazing on all sides, and a structural frame clad in reclaimed timber, giving it a barn-like industrial character that references the agricultural heritage of the setting.
The extension opens directly onto a terrace, with the large glass panels creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection to the garden. An outdoor seating area is sheltered under the extended roofline, acting as a covered veranda. The black metalwork framing the glazing adds a crisp, modern edge that sits in deliberate contrast to the warm red brick and clay pantiles of the original house.
