The refresh of this unique hotel embraces the nostalgic historic ambience, bringing fresh new life to the guest experience. Opened in 1911, also the Coronation of King George V, the building features delicate stained glass windows, a period staircase and tall ceilings. The design draws on the Edwardian ethos that moved away from dark cluttered rooms to create light modern spaces characterised by pastel colours and pared down wooden furniture. The hotel is an oasis in the heart of London which offers a welcome alternative to cookie-cutter anodyne budget hotels, providing lodging, community and value. In recognition of the climate emergency as well as the need to safeguard our building stock and embodied carbon, the approach has been to repair and re-use.
