The ethos of our strategy is to create a new piece of the village, rather than a gated community, cul-de-sac or estate. The 35 homes are integrated into their setting and create a pedestrian connection to the playing fields on the other side of Station Road. By paying attention to the village’s character, we have proposed a landscape that includes open space, lanes, paths, natural hedges, informal planting, gates and fencing made of oak sourced from the estate.

The approach to massing is to balance terraces and individual houses in reference to the unusual village typology. The individual homes are designed to Passive House standards and are contemporary vernacular and thus understood as a model village for the C21st.
