Meryem studied architecture at the University of Westminster and is a Part 1 Architectural Assistant. During her undergraduate studies she developed an interest in connecting design with nature and human experience. Shaped by sketching, painting, and hands on making, her work focuses on landscape and how people move through and inhabit space. Influenced by her ties to Cyprus, she is interested in how social conditions, climate and politics influence the built environment and how architecture can respond with care and intent. Outside the studio she is drawn to slower more sustainable ways of working through craft based making and gardening
