Old Forge

We are designing 45 homes, together with Area Landscape Architects, in the picturesque Suffolk village of Somerleyton. We ask ourselves how can we meet everyone’s basic needs while simultaneously ensuring our common future by protecting biodiversity, stabilising global climate patterns and creating thriving communities? Our collective vision is for a sustainable and environmentally responsible development that takes a ‘landscape led’ initiative that will embed the new homes into the existing setting creating a meaningful sense of place as well as connecting to the natural world.

The Old Forge location is a sensitive context and our approach retains an old oak tree placing the 9 homes around a shared yard reflecting the informal agricultural clusters in the vicinity. The tenth dwelling is found in the Old Forge itself.
