new build
As architects we relish new-build projects and the chance to create buildings, spaces and places. We believe that architecture has the power to transform the way people live and work. Our approach often takes its queue from the context of the vernacular of C16th Lavenham at Orange Cottage to the gritty Victorian industrial mansards in Kings Cross at Field Street. At Cemetery Road in Sheffield the scheme proposes a new model for peri-urban development, creating strong forms from local materials. We feel strongly that buildings need to be designed both on the outside and the inside; after all this is where most people will either live or work.
Our Glossop Road building won an RIBA National Award as well as a Building for Life Award. The judges noted that: "The architects have managed to achieve a high level of quality through the use of a limited selection of robust materials, carefully detailed…"
Whitecross Street won best new-build house of the year 2009 as well as best living space of the year where it was noted "it is imaginative and interesting, making clever use of an awkward site."
