Project Orange were appointed to carry out the schematic design of two villa developments close to Rebali Beach, Essaouira in Morocco. The client, a company specialising in renting villas to provide holidaymakers with authentic, luxury accommodation, has acquired two sites. The brief itself is essentially very simple; to design two developments to provide such accommodation and maximise the development of both plots.

The style in which these proposals were to be carried out was less straightforward. The developments had to contrast and compliment local architecture and offer an alternative type of luxury accommodation to those properties already owned by the client. However, the style of the two developments had to compliment each other and as a whole could not stand out as an "alien" development within the idyllic setting and existing charm of Essaouira.

Drawing on historic Moroccan architectural elements, Project Orange has designed two schemes to provide spacious and luxurious living with an underlying simplicity and elegance. Villas have extensive balconies and roof terraces accessed by traditional external staircases and have the added benefit of private pools located within a secure development.
