A three bedroom apartment commanding views across Chelsea with its triple aspect on the seventh floor of this residential block has been revitalised with an extensive refurbishment.
The interior was stripped back to the structure and services in order to eliminate as much as possible of the extensive boxing out that had built up over many years. All downstands and areas of dropped ceilings were then rationalised to give a more elegant look to the spaces.
We were influenced by the period of the building and the design alludes to the inspiration of a luxury cruiseliner.
Flush timber panelling to the hall provides the main corridor off which all of the rooms are located; with the public areas of Reception and Kitchen through the glass doors at the entrance end of the corridor and the Bedrooms and Bathrooms further along. The doors have been carefully detailed to align completely flush with the adjacent wall panelling to provide an elegant and streamlined look to this circulation space.
The simple material palette of warm Cherry and Travertine provides a warm and homely feel, with added interest being provided via the red highlights of the hall carpet and the high gloss kitchen units. The simple colour palette is subtly varied across the apartment through a variety of textures and scale.
The Master Bedroom is lined with Cherry panelling and a contemporary bedhead is illuminated by concealed lighting. The main bathroom entrance and layout has been re-worked to create a master suite and is now accessed through a flush, concealed door within the panelling. The bath placed under the window inviting you to relax and enjoy the view.
